Job Description

Reporting to the Director – Testing, Certification and RM&S, the incumbent will be tasked with supervising a team of engineers specialized in reliability and safety. This individual will manage the implementation of the product safety process with the support of various engineering teams, as well as the reliability activities such as the reliability program and the definition of reliability requirements for the design teams. The incumbent will monitor their team’s deliverables to meet the schedules of each platform, and act as a resource for the team for reliability and safety issues.

Main Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Reliability and Safety definitions, planning and activities for new systems or platforms;
  • Appoint assignments and priorities for every team member;
  • Monitor progress of each project in collaboration with various engineers in charge of platforms;
  • Ensure the company’s best practices and processes are applied and followed;
  • Manage maintenance and application of the failure and non-compliance engineering processes;
  • Participate in technical reviews and design concepts, providing an outlook from the Reliability and Safety point of view;
  • Report clearly and quickly any situation that could compromise deliveries to the manager;
  • Actively contribute to the identification and development of improvement opportunities in which they participate;
  • Participate in Reliability and Safety industry forums;
  • Manage the Reliability program, including Lion’s reliability database.

Knowledge

  • Bilingual (French and English);
  • Knowledge of safety analysis techniques:
      • Failure mode analysis;
      • Fault tree analysis;
      • Functional safety analysis;
      • System security analysis;
      • Security risk analysis;
  • Knowledge of analysis and reliability improvement techniques;
  • Knowledge of standards and regulations of the road transportation sector (asset);
  • Knowledge of the heavy electric vehicle sector (asset).

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering (or equivalent)
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (mandatory)
  • At least three years as a supervisor of an engineering team
  • 7 to 10 years as a reliability and safety engineer
