Job Description

Reporting to the Vice President, Financial Reporting, the individual serves as the Company’s in-house expert on the interpretation and application of IFRS and is responsible for directing and managing the company's accounting functions, managing the process of preparing and filing the interim and annual consolidated financial statements and Management’s Discussion and Analysis (MD&A), and providing input on other regulatory filings. The individual is also responsible for the monitoring and oversight of the Company’s SOX 404 certification program.

  • Be a strong voice and leader within the Finance team and across the organization by shaping the finance policies and procedures within the Company.
  • Lead and ensure the accurate and timely preparation of internal financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and management information reports.
  • Oversee the end to end quarterly and annual financial statements process under IFRS, including drafting of all interim and annual financial statement notes and disclosure, and the MD&A;
  • Manage the translation process for the interim and annual consolidated financial statements, MD&A, and earnings press release.
  • Preparation of management review financial analysis as part of the quarterly & year-end closing process;
  • Manage the day-to-day external audit relationship;
  • Monitor compliance with IFRS and applicable Canadian and U.S. rules and regulations over financial reporting.
  • Perform accounting research (including the preparation of technical accounting memorandums documenting analysis and conclusions), financial reporting benchmarking and special projects;
  • Monitor developments in the business with a view to identifying potential future accounting and reporting issues;
  • Assist in the review of strategic transactions, identify and assess accounting and reporting issues
  • Review of significant contracts for reporting implications;
  • Assist in the presentation of materials for meetings of the audit committee;
  • Establish and maintain appropriate internal controls and compliance for financial accuracy and the appropriate governance, maintaining a strong financial control environment;
  • Recommend and coordinate changes and improvements in automated financial and reporting information systems for improved financial management;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with the designation CPA, CA
  • 10-12 years of auditing and/or accounting experience in a public accounting firm or public company. Experience with SEC registrants and/or PCAOB audits are considered a significant asset;
  • Strong finance leader with a rigorous approach and desire to build a strong financial reporting & controls foundation;
  • Experience in the manufacturing sector is considered an asset;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and French;
  • Up to date in IFRS accounting pronouncements;
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word and Power Point);
  • Strong technical research and writing skills;
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, evolving and growing environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to use data query and reporting tools;
  • Readily voices opinions (supported by facts), escalate issues and ideas, and able to positively manage conflict.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with attention to detail;
  • Strong work ethic and able to work under pressure and perform under tight deadlines;
