Job Description

The Mechanical Integration Engineer is responsible of the development of mechanical design solutions and technology implementations required to integrate cells, modules et packs for EV onboard high voltage energy storage systems.

Main responsabilities

The Mechanical Integration Engineer is responsible for the design solutions generation and new technology selection; manages implementation and deployment of selected design solutions and technologies; and participates to supplier partnership selection for:

  • Mechanical layout, assembly and protection (structure, vibration, impacts, …) of cells, modules and battery packs ;
  • Mechanical integration of high and low voltage electric and electronic components ;
  • Mechanical integration of thermal system components ;

More specifically, the Mechanical Integration Engineer:

  • Defines system requirements based on customer needs, expectations and regulations, …  in partnership with other systems owners ;
  • Scouts, evaluates and recommends advanced technologies ;
  • Generates innovative ideas, concepts and design solutions in order to meet project technical objectives ;
  • Executes system DMFEA and implements corresponding design improvements ;
  • Develops and implements selected solutions in order to meet customer needs, expectations and requirements ;
  • Drives System Design Reviews ;
  • Approves system and component drawings ;
  • Analyses, verifies and validates component specifications ;
  • Participates in testing procedures definition in collaboration with V&V ;
  • Supervises testing execution and verifies & validates testing results ;
  • Contributes to vehicle system integration ;
  • Supports other departments (purchasing, manufacturing, production, …).

Knowledge

  • Electric energy storage chemistry, materials et technologies ;
  • Mecanical modeling, simulations and optimisation of energy storage systems (CAD & CAE) ;
  • Catia V5 or V6 design software ;
  • Transport & EV regulations and standards ;
  • Functional safety concepts (ASIL, A-SPICE, ISO-26262) ;
  • Automated production of battery modules and packs.

Education and experience
