Under the supervision of the Department head – Testing and certification, the Engineer – Testing and certification – USA must bring expertise in the execution and analysis of validation results from engineering and certification validation tests. The incumbent is the reference for teams in the identification of performance issues and their applicable solutions. The Engineer – Testing and certification – USA is responsible of ensuring ongoing updates of the certification registry for various platforms and of analysing the safety risks related to service issues. The engineer will be based in the United States and will support testing on-site at the various suppliers located in the United States. The incumbent will therefore be responsible to resolve prototype issues and to supervise tests conducted by suppliers.

Main Responsibilities

  • Review and support drafting of test plans.
  • Design, carry out and ensure maintenance of testing tools.
  • Carry out or supervise tests, on-site if needed, at the various suppliers located in the United States.
  • Document and analyse test results.
  • Provide documents related to tests according to the department standards.
  • Support system designers to ensure monitoring of standards.
  • Maintain the normative compliance record up to date for the different platforms.
  • Draft applicable certification reports.
  • Propose solutions to fix or improve products.
  • Create risk analyses related to failure and service noncompliance problems.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of digital and analog circuits
  • Proficiency in SAE, CMVSS, FMVSS and ISO standards
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
  • Knowledge in metrology (asset)
  • Knowledge of French (asset)
  • Knowledge of the Controller Area Network (CAN) standard (asset)

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, mechatronics or programming engineering  
  • Two (2) years of experience in engineering
  • Experience in the automobile manufacturing sector (asset)

Work Context

  • Able to work outside normal work hours and on weekends depending on testing requirements
  • Work from home in the beginning, with regular visits to suppliers in various locations in the United States for many days/weeks to support and supervise tests.
