The Senior Advisor, Corporate Sustainability will be a key member of the Lion ESG Taskforce, reporting to the Vice President, Investor Relations and Sustainable Development. This individual will be responsible for leading the coordination, communications, and analytical work to execute the ESG strategy and integration of sustainable practices, aligned with Lion’s business strategies and operational objectives. The individual will work with cross-functional teams. This position is based in St-Jerome, QC.

As part of your daily work, you would have to:

  • Serves as a member on the Company’s internal ESG Taskforce, which, based on the Executive Team’s recommendation, will meet several times per year to drive ESG initiatives and policies for Lion.
  • Works with the ESG Taskforce to create strategies in order to meet internal company goals related to corporate environmental, social and governance responsibility.
  • Collaborates with key business functions to obtain data and achieve agreed metrics across ESG measures, and ensures operational ESG initiatives are executed in-line with the Lion’s objectives.
  • Leads Lion’s efforts (planning, writing, organizing, management and distribution) for the publication of an annual Sustainability Report and related annual reporting, including Sustainability GRI Report, TCFD and SASB disclosure, and develops ESG contents in the company’s core public documents including the Annual Report, 10-K/AIF and Management Information Circular.
  • Works directly with the Investor relations officer on improving understanding and integration of ESG factors in support of the overall business and communication strategy.
  • Oversees the scoring of various third-party reporting frameworks (i.e., ISS, GRESB, MSCI, Sustainalytics, etc.) and develops plan on how to enhance the Company’s scoring profile.
  • Supports annual CDP reporting and activities and initiatives related to climate goals.
  • Responds to key ESG surveys, inquiries and ratings agencies (e.g., EcoVadis) and performs ongoing due diligence and regular monitoring of Grant Thornton’s ESG scores.
  • Supports executive and board reporting of ESG including materials, reports, and presentations.
  • Leads future materiality assessments.
  • Oversees content of Lion’s Sustainable Development website and recommends updates and enhanced disclosures, as appropriate.
  • Drives ongoing improvement in ESG disclosures, rankings and ratings, and response of ESG inquiries.
  • Partners with Marketing and Communications to develop communication strategies for internal and external stakeholders
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What you need to succeed in this position:

Knowledge

  • Broad knowledge of ESG in a business context including ESG reporting, life cycle assessment, Science Based Targets, sustainable building, and sustainable financing.
  • Familiarity with third-party ESG reporting frameworks (i.e., GRI, CDP, DJSI, SASB, GHG Protocol, ISS, MSCI, Sustainanalytics, etc.)
  • Advanced computer proficiency, including the ability to use the Microsoft Office Suite, email and Internet.

Skills

  • Advanced verbal and written communications skills in both English and French, as well as the ability to educate, persuade, and inspire people into action.
  • Strong project management and cross-functional team management skills, process focused.

Aptitudes and attitudes

  • Be able to prioritize, multitask and deliver high-quality work in tight timeframes.
  • Strong execution skills, with ability to work independently while pursuing organizational and team goals.
  • High level of personal drive. A consummate team player with impeccable ethics and integrity.

Studies and experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies or related field.
  • 5-10 years in ESG and/or sustainability program development & implementation, with direct experience related to setting sustainability strategies and leading reporting responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with senior executives and collaborate effectively with people across functions, and all levels of seniority.
