As a member pf the Controls Technical Team, you will maintain all equipment to required standards and be responsive to line calls and equipment failures. The Technical Team Controls routinely performs work independently and must be able to work in an environment with many distractions, maintaining a high level of accuracy and safety, while performing their duties.

As part of your daily work, you will:

  • Establish and follow up project implementation; including timing, concept, feasibility design, specifications, construction and commissioning as required;
  • Troubleshoot and implement software changes to Allen Bradley Compact and Controls Logix platform of PLC’s;
  • Perform software changes to Panelview 1000 and Panelview Plus units;
  • Working with and troubleshooting electrical drives;
  • Support new machine builds, installations and modifications;
  • Suggest and implement improvements to manufacturing/internal processes, information and procedures. Take advantage of all cost reduction opportunities;
  • Develop controls, drawing and design concepts;
  • Deal with various vendors (supplier and equipment);
  • Establish and maintain effective communications with production, quality and engineering;
  • Participate in ongoing cross training activities within the organization;
  • Train and monitor Team Members to operate the equipment  and systems;
  • Know and understand process documentation and customer specific requirements, as they relate to the job function;
  • Adhere to good housekeeping practices; maintaining a clean, environmentally safe and organized department;
  • Follow and comply with all Operational Procedures and Policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environment programs (ie. TS16949, ISO14001);
  • Perform other duties as required.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • A degree/diploma in electrical controls/Robotics or equivalent work experience;
  • Minimum of (two) 2 years’ experience troubleshooting and programming PLC’s, preferably in an automotive environment (assembly tooling, automation, welding and robotics)
  • Capable of reading and editing electrical, mechanical and layout drawings;
  • Robotic experience, programming and troubleshooting Fanuc robots;
  • Working with Rockwell software, and a solid understanding of hardware;
  • Background in PLC Networking, Ethernet, ControlNet;
  • PLC programming experience with Allen Bradley;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mathematics;
  • Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal and problem solving skills;
  • Maturity of judgment, positive human relations and leadership skills;
  • Ability to work independently and without supervision;
  • Ability to uphold confidentiality;
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment;
  • Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs;
  • Ability to work to deadlines and support multiple demands.
