Sr. Engineer - Dynamic Truck Systems

Job Description

Reporting to the Department Head - Powertrain, Trucks, you'll be responsible for all technical aspects of truck dynamic systems. They include mainly: braking, suspension, steering and axle systems. You'll be responsible for engineering the systems, as well as coordinating the design and integration to complete the projects on time and on budget.

• Define the system architecture.
• Define and validate the system requirements taking into account the applicable standards and regulations.
• Define and validate the system's mechanical and electrical interfaces.
• Develop the system control logic with the software group.
• Work with suppliers and other Lion groups to facilitate system integration into the vehicle.
• Define the relevant test plans to verify the requirements.
• Define system operational modes based on typical vehicle usage.
• Analyze the probable causes of system failures and their effects (DFMEA).
• Define verification and validation activities relevant to the system.
• Support the production of new products.
• Support customer problem solving
• Model the system in a simulation environment (MatLab /Simulink).

Provide occasional support for production and test sites to help solve problems and implement testing

Knowledge

• Bilingualism (English and French)
• Design and integration of dynamic vehicle systems - brakes, suspension, steering, axles
• Complex system failure analysis and solution integration
• MS Office Suite
• Catia, version 5 or 6
• Systems simulation (MatLab/Simulink) an asset
• Road transport standards and regulations an asset

Aptitudes / Approaches

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
• Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec

Experience

• Experience in the road transport field
• 10 to 15 years' experience in a similar position
• Experience in product development an asset
