Under the supervision of the MES Department Manager, you will be responsible for supporting users and developments of the MES systems of the plants, including maintenance, administration and modifications to the systems, focusing on the deployment of new functionalities.


As part of your daily work, you would have to:

  • Evaluate information processing activities, operating methods, and information systems development in relation to Lions of computer systems as they relate to Lion's direction;
  • Develop and maintain a robust and scalable software architecture;
  • Translate business requirements into functional and technical analysis;
  • Document current and future processes;
  • Write functional specifications;
  • Ensure the documentation and application of IT (Information Technology) procedures and standards;
  • Conceptualize, document, develop, deploy, and support new functionalities, including applications in Python or other languages, Automate tasks, reports, and alerts;
  • Perform level 2 or 3 support when required;
  • Carry out the necessary interventions (support, maintenance, patching) on the applications;
  • Ensure that the databases are accessible in accordance with the service level agreements;
  • Ensure that the databases provide results that meet the client's requirements (proactive and reactive monitoring);
  • Analyze and maintain the capacity and performance requirements of SQL Server databases;
  • Create and maintain users and their permissions, technical support, database maintenance (log, index, drop temporary tables, etc.);
  • Analyze, diagnose, and solve problems following information transmitted by the user or the manager and according to the rules and standards of the company;
  • Route and/or escalate requests as needed;
  • Participate in the integration and implementation of technical solutions;
  • Participate in concert with the MES department manager in projects related to information technology.

What you need to succeed in this position:

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of the Python language
  • Knowledge of the Ignition platform
  • Knowledge of MES and shop floor systems
  • Knowledge of various Ignition modules including "Perspectives
  • OT knowledge:
  • Use of PLCs, equipment, and other data collection equipment
  • General knowledge of data collection
  • SCADA systems and communication protocols (OPC, OMRON...)
  • Use of Historian and SQL Bridge modules from Ignition
  • Knowledge of SQL database management and manipulation
  • Use of API and other types of interconnectivities between systems
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 office tools;
  • Good knowledge of computer and printer hardware support;
  • Experience with access points and wireless technology.

Studies and Experience

  • Studies in computer science or computer engineering or any related training or experience;
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar task;
  • Experience in the automotive industry an asset;
  • Experience with an MES an asset
